Meshwise Support
Updated 2026-09-07
Meshwise turns a LiDAR walk-through of a room into a dimensioned floor plan, a drywall takeoff and 3D models. It is made by JolleyTech, LLC, which is one person in Montana who wanted his basement finished.

One person answers this address. Expect a reply within a couple of days. Please include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the app version from *Settings › About*, and what you were doing when the problem happened. If a scan came out wrong, say roughly how big the space was and what was in it.
Which iPhones does Meshwise work on?
Meshwise needs the LiDAR sensor, which only the Pro and Pro Max iPhones have:
- iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max
iPhone Air, the non-Pro iPhones and the SE and "e" models do not have LiDAR and cannot scan. Meshwise opens on them and will show scans you copy in from Files, but the scanning buttons are hidden and there is nothing useful to do. Check your model before you buy anything. Apple issues refunds for purchases made by mistake; see "Refunds" below.
Meshwise requires iOS 18 or later. Editing the plan by typing needs iOS 26 and a device that supports Apple Intelligence; without it, everything else works and the same edits are available from the manual controls.
Meshwise runs on iPhone and on iPad Pro models with a LiDAR sensor (2020 and later). The iPad layout is a first version: scanning and the plan work the same, but the screens were designed for a phone first.
How accurate is it?
Take your time in reasonable light and room dimensions usually land within about 1 inch (25 mm). They can be off by 3 inches (75 mm) or more in poor light, on dark, glossy or mirrored surfaces, in a room full of stuff, if you move fast, or on one long scan where the tracking drifts.
Material quantities are estimates. Sheet counts include a waste factor, shown next to the number.
Meshwise is for estimating and for seeing what you have. It is not a survey, an as-built drawing or a certified measurement, so keep it away from permits, structural or engineering decisions, legal descriptions and property boundaries. Check the dimensions that matter with a tape measure before you order materials or build. The full statement is in the Terms of Use.
Getting a better scan
- Scan with the lights on. LiDAR works in the dark, but ARKit's camera tracking does not.
- Walk slowly and keep the phone roughly upright, sweeping the whole height of each wall.
- Cover the floor and the joists. Meshwise decides something is a wall by seeing returns near the
floor *and* near the ceiling, so a wall you only scanned at chest height may be dropped.
- Move boxes and stacked material away from walls if you can. A stack of drywall against a wall reads
as part of the wall.
- Keep a single scan to one basement or one floor. Very long sessions drift.
- There is a longer guide in the app under *Settings*, and in the repository as
SCANNING_GUIDE.md.
Where are my scans stored? Does anything get uploaded?
Everything stays on your iPhone. There is no networking code in the app at all, so there is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. The App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected" because that is literally what the app does.
Scans live in the app's own folder on the device. You can see them in the Files app under *On My iPhone › Meshwise*, so you can copy them to a computer yourself.
Editing the plan by typing uses Apple Intelligence on your device. The prompt is built from your plan on the phone and the model runs locally. Nothing is sent to a server.
The only time anything leaves your phone is when you tap Share and choose where to send it. From there it is governed by whatever you picked: Mail, AirDrop, Files, another app.
Full details: Privacy Policy.
What about iCloud?
*Settings › iCloud backup* has a switch that is off by default. When you turn it on, Meshwise copies each scan's plan, mesh, model and photos into your own iCloud Drive, under *iCloud Drive › Meshwise › Scans*. Raw depth frames are a separate switch because they are large.
- The files go to your Apple Account. JolleyTech never sees them and has no access to them.
- Deleting a scan in the app deletes its iCloud copy.
- Turning the switch off stops further copies but leaves what is already there. You can delete those
in the Files app.
- Scans are big, often 100 to 400 MB each, so look at your iCloud storage before you turn on depth
frames.
Getting a scan onto another iPhone, or back from your Mac
Meshwise can take in a scan somebody else made, and a scan you copied off to a computer and want back. Three ways in, all of which end at the same place — the scan appears in your list like any other.
AirDrop. On the phone that has the scan, open it and tap Share whole scan (.zip) (or hold the row in the scan list and pick *Share scan (.zip)*), then AirDrop it to the other iPhone. On the receiving phone, choose Meshwise when iOS asks which app should open it. The import runs, and the scan is in the list when it finishes.
From your Mac with a cable (Finder). Plug the iPhone in, open a Finder window, click the iPhone in the sidebar, and choose the Files tab. Meshwise is listed there. Drag the .zip — or the whole scan folder — onto Meshwise. Then, in the app, tap Import… at the top of the scan list, and pick what you just dropped in.
Through iCloud Drive or any file provider. Put the .zip anywhere the Files app can see it — iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, a USB drive plugged into the phone — then tap Import… in Meshwise and browse to it. Files opened this way are copied into Meshwise; the original is left where it was.
You can also send a scan to yourself in Mail or Messages and tap the attachment; iOS offers Meshwise in the list of apps that can open it.
What Meshwise will open
| You give it | What you get |
|---|---|
A scan .zip from Meshwise | The whole scan — plan, mesh, frames, notes — exactly as it was on the other phone. |
| A scan folder from Files | The same, without zipping first. |
A .usdz, .ply or .obj | A model-only scan. You can view it in 3D and share or export it. |
A .ply that Meshwise itself wrote also keeps its surface labels, so it can still be turned into a floor plan with Build plan. A model from any other app (or any .usdz/.obj) has shapes but no labels — Meshwise cannot tell a wall from a floor in it — so it shows you why the plan button is not there rather than failing silently.
If an import does not work
Meshwise tells you why in plain language. The usual reasons:
- "There's no Meshwise scan inside…" — the zip holds files but no
manifest.json. Re-share it
from the other phone with *Share whole scan (.zip)* rather than zipping the folder by hand.
- "That zip is damaged…" — the transfer did not finish. Send it again.
- "That zip uses the ZIP64 format…" — it was rebuilt by another zip tool. Share the original.
- "…already on this iPhone" — you already have that exact scan. Nothing was copied, and nothing
was overwritten.
- If a scan you import happens to share an ID with one you already have but is not the same scan,
Meshwise keeps both and gives the new one a fresh ID. It never overwrites a scan you already have.
Imported scans get a line added to their notes saying which file they came from and when.
Scans are big — often 100 to 400 MB — so give a large import a moment, and check you have the free space before you start.
How do I delete a scan, or everything?
Swipe a scan in the list and choose Delete, or tap Edit, select several, and delete them together. That removes every file for those scans, including the iCloud copies if backup is on. The scan list shows how much space everything is using.
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
What can I export?
From a finished plan:
| Format | What it is for |
|---|---|
| PDF plan sheet | The one to print or email. Title block, dimensioned plan, per-room takeoff table. |
| DXF | Opens in AutoCAD, LibreCAD, QCAD, Fusion and SketchUp with a DXF importer. True 1:1. |
| Takeoff CSV | Wall, ceiling and bulkhead square footage per room, sheet counts, waste factor. Opens in Numbers or Excel. |
| Plan JSON | The full model, for scripting. |
| OBJ, GLB | 3D geometry for Blender, SketchUp, three.js and the like. |
| USDZ | Tap to open in AR Quick Look on any iPhone or iPad. Good for sending to a client. |
| STL (1:100) | A small printable model of the plan. |
| Web page | A single self-contained HTML file. The 3D view in it needs an internet connection to load its viewer library. |
From an object scan: STL in millimetres, Z-up, base closed, ready for a slicer such as Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer or Cura. There is also a photo pack you can process on a Mac for a much higher detail model.
Exports are made on demand and handed to the iOS share sheet.
Something went wrong
The app says my device is not supported. It has no LiDAR sensor. See the device list above.
"Build plan" produces nothing, or the rooms are fused together. Each room needs a pin dropped inside it before extraction. A doorway and a narrow hallway look the same to the algorithm, so two rooms joined by a wide opening may come out as one; add a pin in each and extract again.
A pin says it didn't land in a room. The pin fell on a wall or outside the scanned floor. Tap Seeds, drag it into open floor, and re-extract.
A wall is missing. Usually the wall was only scanned at one height. Re-scan it sweeping from floor to joists. Uninsulated stud walls with widely spaced studs are the hardest case.
The plan looks right but a room is L-shaped and the area seems high. Non-rectangular rooms are flagged L-shaped and their wall area is computed from the outline perimeter, which is capped to bound the error from a ragged scan outline. Check that number by hand before ordering.
Object Capture stays on "Starting camera…". Turn on more light, or use the flashlight button on the capture screen.
The app crashed. Please email the details. If you have crash reports enabled, *Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Analytics Data* on your iPhone has files starting with "Meshwise"; attaching one helps a lot.
Refunds
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. JolleyTech cannot issue a refund and never sees your payment details.
Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, find Meshwise and choose "Request a refund". You can also do it from *Settings › your name › Media & Purchases › View Account › Purchase History* on the iPhone. Apple decides these case by case and usually replies within a few days.
If you bought Meshwise and then found your iPhone has no LiDAR, say so in the refund request. That is exactly the situation Apple's process is for.
